Beat the Summer Heat!

- Cooling and energy saving tips –

During the summer months temperatures outside can reach sweltering degrees. When it's that hot outside we tend to crank up our air conditioning units and stay inside. Although, the cool inside air is satisfying during those hot days, when the energy bill arrives at the end of the month you might wish you stuck out the heat. Continue reading to learn useful tips to practice this summer to cut down your monthly energy bills while keeping cool.

Energy Saving Tips

-    Keep your drapes and blinds closed during the day to prevent the sun from streaming in through your windows. The sun will cause your home to heat up forcing your air conditioner to work harder and use more energy.

-    Make sure you keep up maintenance on your air unit by changing the filters and have it checked regularly. Keeping up with your air conditioning repairs and system maintenance will keep your air clean and encourage your unit to work more effectively.

-    Only run exhaust fans like the ones found in kitchens and bathrooms, for a short period of time because they push cool air outside.

-    Do not place any objects that produce heat such as lamps or televisions near the thermostat. The thermostat will read the heat produced from these objects and will run longer than it needs to.

-    Keep your thermostat at the highest possible temperature that is still comfortable for you. A few degrees can make a big difference in your energy bill.
